All the proper civilization is in the UK and all the outlaws, hillbillies and whatnots are in Australia. The game is just a reference to that time. UK have a history of throwing their unwanted elements into Australia. I still have the box (7 cds) right next to me. I remember my parents bought this as a gift for me and my brother. like the painting on an easel that kept on getting moddifed throughout the game until it portrayed some kind of terrible dark abstract scene. Like activating the Fortunetelling machine at the start of each new chapter (the 'fortune' told got darker and darker as the chapters progressed) There were a lot of things like that. You'd also miss things that made the game much scarier. Ofcoarse during the two final chapters you usually had to act fast and didn't have the time to consult the skull. Some answers were rather sketchy like when you're outside the mansion it would tell you that "the house awaits your return" or "something is amiss in the observatory" but some were very much to the point. whenever you were stuckyou'd just click on a skull positioned somewhere in the interface of the game and it would tell you what to do.
